Nissan Hybrid: Pleasure With No Compromise
Ever wish you can drink as much alcohol as you like without hangovers? How about indulging into your favorite food without worrying about your shape? You wish you can just dance all night and still stay as perky as ever the next day in the office.
Sometimes you can’t help but accept it; there are some great things that come with great risks. But still, some don’t.
Introducing the Nissan Altima Hybrid. It’s not another face in the crowd if you think it is. With growing number of hybrid cars available in the market, choosing which one to buy has became a tedious process. Nissan Motors had everyone drooling over this beauty.
Using Toyota’s Synergy Drive technology and Nissan’s 198hp 2.5 liter engine and its distinctive sleek and attractive curves, the Nissan Altima Hybrid is a style and performance rolled in one. The Toyota’s technology is the brain behind the smooth power transmission that switches from the electric mode to full engine-driven navigation. It also guides the acceleration of the Altima Hybrid with its Hybrid Vehicle-Electric Control Unit (HV-ECU) that determines the right combination of power sources for more efficient speeding. In simple terms, it gives you that instant push when accelerating from 0 mph which is the hardest phase of acceleration and a gasoline engine’s least fuel efficient stage.
On top of that it is rated as an Advanced Technology-Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) and tests showed that it emits almost no emission making sense of its green reputation.
This one and so far the only hybrid of Nissan, Altima Hybrid is estimated by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in terms of fuel economy at 35 mpg City and 33 mpg Highway. That roughly translates to up to 700 miles for a 20-gallon fuel tank fill up. And like other hybrids it comes with regenerative breaking technology that recharges the 244.8V Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery for every break and deceleration. In the process it gives you extra because it can use those generated energy to run your car and at the same time saves you “plug in” time and fuel as well.
Though it uses Toyota technology on some of its parts its still has that very Nissan feeling. Patterned after its conventional Altima counterpart, the advanced “D” platform gives the hybrid that control on the front wheels virtually eliminating the drive torque steer. The exterior and interior are still as elegant they are. The very appealing strong and vigorous is still embellished with the signature Altima-style taillights.
For the techies out there, you can upgrade the already outstanding standard features of the Altima Hybrid into a flashier version. The available add-ons you can take advantage of are Bluetooth connectivity, hands-free phone system, satellite radio, rearview monitor and the Nissan’s Advanced Navigation System with real-time Energy flow display. Also the leather-appointed seating will give a much more comfort you deserve, available as add-on.
So you think Nissan hybrid is impressive? Don’t get too excited. The Altima Hybrid is only available, as of yet, in California, Connecticut, Miane, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont in United States and also in Japan.
